The Cheltenham Fold

Sunday 25 October 2026 · 44 items · 5 min read

The M5 Junction 10 upgrade has a timetable: the slip roads at Cheltenham's own junction will close for an estimated two years from early 2027, as part of the £372 million scheme. Not this week's problem, but a long one for anyone who joins or leaves the motorway there. Nearer at hand, the two councils have chosen a preferred bidder for Gloucestershire Airport, not yet named. And it is half-term: the family list runs from pumpkins to pirate pigs, with Halloween on Saturday.

The week at a glance

  2. M5 Junction 10 slip roads closing for two years from 2027

  4. Film Chelt: Friday 30 October to Sunday 8 November

  5. Pick your own pumpkins in the Cotswolds: on now, until Saturday 31 October

Weather

A wet start, then a dry, grey run to the weekend. Monday is the wet one: drizzle on a near-certain forecast with a moderate breeze, though mild for late October at up to 17°C. Tuesday is lighter drizzle, still more likely than not, and still mild. From Wednesday the rain goes and the cloud stays: overcast, light winds and afternoons around 14 to 16°C, with Thursday the brightest at partly cloudy. The weekend is calm, dry and cooler: Saturday tops out at 12°C with only a small chance of rain, so Halloween rounds look dry, and Sunday is the coolest of the week at 7 to 11°C.
